These directions will bring you to a dirt road that spurs off of the main gravel road. This dirt road is marked with orange ribbon (pictured below). This dirt road gets rougher as you travel down it. I suggest parking at the orange ribbon and then walking from there to the claim (about .5 miles) to see how far you wish to drive down it. Along this dirt road there is a fork, stay to the left of the fork. Eventually you will see some claim signs along with orange and red plywood squares nailed to some trees (pictured below). This marks the downstream end of the claim. Please study the map below and use the provided gps coordinates.

We are offering 2 legal to dredge 20 acre mining claims on Wolf Creek, covering the historic Sluter Mine. The Sluter mine was one of the richest bonanzas in Southern Oregon and the history on these claims is simply astonishing. The history and figures stated in this ad are not for the wolf creek area in general but are for these claims in particular.
The Sluter Mine was discovered by H. D. Sluter in the mid 1890’s. The mine started as a placer, but while Sluter was mining he also discovered several small gold pockets disbursed in the bedrock throughout the mine. Sluter discovered so much gold that he became known as “The Monte Cristo of Wolf Creek” and “Like Sluter” became a byword to describe a rich gold strike.
Sluter mined bedrock pockets, elluvial and residual placer deposits on the hillsides (gold that has eroded from the lode, but has not yet reached the creek), the creek bed, and benches along the creek. The creek bed averaged ½ of an ounce per foot. However, due to a lack of a good dump Sluter was forced to leave behind a vast majority of the creek bed and benches. As a result there is an incredible amount of unworked material left on the claims. I would estimate that about 80% of the creek bed and lower benches are still unworked. There is no evidence to suggest that these claims have been dredged.
These claims have produced many multi-ounce nuggets. 15 ounce nuggets have been recorded on these claims along with 7+ ounce pans. The Sluter mines total production has not been clearly reported, but it is estimated at between 4000 and 8000 ounces or between $12,000,000 and $24,000,000.

This is a mining claim and a mining claim only. You do not own the land. You can mine and camp on the claim. This is not a homestead or a place to live. Upon completed payment you will receive A properly filed Quit Claim Deed transferring ownership of the claim to you. This document will be notarized, recorded at the county courthouse, recorded with the BLM, and mailed to you. This process can take between 15-45 days. However, you will have access to the claim immediately. We cover all fees and do all of the work associated in transferring the claim over to you. The claim is yours forever as long as you pay a yearly $200 fee to the BLM.
