The Lost Flat Mine was historically one of the top producers in the Galice Mining District. Up to the mid 1900’s it had produced over 6000 ounces of gold or $28,000,000+ in today’s money. In the 1980’s it was bought from the same family who had held the mine for over 100 years for well into the six figures in 1980’s dollars. Production continued through the 1980’s but production from the mid 1900’s thru the 1980’s was not publicly recorded. Most of the gold came from one open pit. Historical assays from the open pit ran 1-5 opt.
The open pit has since been sluffed in. I have owned this mine for several years with the intention of cleaning it out and getting back on to the vein. However, I have never got around to it and due to career changes, I likely never will. Since the pit is sluffed in, I have never personally tested the vein. However, pans of crushed quartz from the dump average several hundred colors per pan.
The placer claim included in this package covers a year around legal to dredge creek which drains the hillside with the pit. Upstream of the pit I averaged 1 small color every couple of surface pans. Downstream of the pit I averaged about 3 or 4 colors per surface pan. The gold looks very pure and crystalline.
This is a mining claim and a mining claim only. You do not own the land. You can mine and camp on the claim. This is not a homestead or a place to live. Upon completed payment you will receive A properly filed Quit Claim Deed transferring ownership of the claim to you. This document will be notarized, recorded at the county courthouse, recorded with the BLM, and mailed to you. This process can take between 15-45 days. However, you will have access to the claim immediately. We cover all fees and do all of the work associated in transferring the claim over to you. The claim is yours forever as long as you pay a yearly $200 fee to the BLM.
