Representative Bentz, Introduce the River Liberation Act

Rural Oregon was once a prosperous mineral rich land. The gold fields of Northeastern and Southwestern Oregon once pumped millions of dollars in to the local economy. However, these local communities have been under attack by environmental extremist for decades. Mineral withdrawls, such as the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, have stolen the local communities access to these mineral rich lands. Now what were once prosperous mining communities have become some of the poorest communities in the nation.

This petition is respectfully calling upon Representative Cliff Bentz to introduce the River Liberation Act, and to continue introducing it until it is passed in to law. If passed this act would repeal all Wild and Scenic River designations in the State of Oregon. This would allow the local impoverished communities to once again utilize the billions of dollars of untapped mineral wealth that has been taken from them.
